A man from Oxfordshire has been sentenced to prison after conducting a sustained campaign of harassment against former romantic partners.
Richard McGuigan appeared before Oxford Crown Court where convictions were recorded for multiple offences involving two separate women.
The 36-year-old resident of Offutt Drive in Heyford Park admitted to two violations of non-molestation orders alongside a single count of harassment.
The court was informed that McGuigan sent threatening communications to one ex-partner through WhatsApp, with messages containing self-harm threats.
He subsequently initiated a video call with the same woman while appearing on screen wearing a balaclava and holding a knife.
A photograph depicting him with what appeared to be blood covering his face was also distributed to her.
Additional offences involved a second former partner with whom McGuigan had been romantically involved for a brief period.
He bombarded her with numerous messages and voice recordings, each containing threats to harm himself.
Prosecution representative Laura Nash informed the court that the volume and nature of these communications had caused extensive psychological harm to the recipient.
The first victim reported experiencing severe emotional distress following the incidents.
She described suffering intrusive memories, a pervasive sense of vulnerability within her own residence, and anxiety about leaving her home.
Court records indicate McGuigan had accumulated five prior convictions encompassing six separate offences prior to these matters, with earlier cases involving comparable conduct.
Presiding over the case, Judge Michael Roques oversaw proceedings before imposing a custodial sentence of 22 months.
