Red Sky Shepherd’s Huts Limited in £500K collapse with liquidators appointed

A company specialising in premium shepherd’s huts and linked to former Prime Minister David Cameron has entered liquidation with reported debts exceeding half a million pounds.

Red Sky Shepherd’s Huts Limited, registered at Bridewell Farm in North Leigh, has had liquidators appointed following a creditors’ meeting on September 3.

Representatives from Opus Restructuring LLP will oversee the winding-up process, with a subsequent meeting for creditors arranged for September 28.

Mark Siddall and Colin David Wilson, both of Opus Restructuring LLP at 1 Radian Court, Knowlhill, Milton Keynes, were formally appointed as Joint Liquidators in accordance with official Gazette records.

The enterprise was established by Paul Bennett as a family concern situated on the periphery of the Cotswolds.

The business employs skilled craftspeople, paint finishers and designers dedicated to producing distinctive shepherd’s huts for customers throughout the United Kingdom.

Among those customers was David Cameron, who served as the Conservative Party leader, Prime Minister and MP for Witney until his resignation in 2016.

Following his departure from those positions, Cameron commissioned a bespoke hut from the company in 2017 at a cost of £25,000.

The structure subsequently served as his writing retreat while he composed his autobiography, ‘For the Record’, which was released in 2019.

Cameron, now elevated to the peerage as Baron Cameron of Chipping Norton, discovered the manufacturer through an online search for shepherd’s hut suppliers.

He noted that the company’s website appealed to him and that their proximity to his constituency proved advantageous.

The purchased hut featured a traditional shepherd’s hut design incorporating an arched roof, metal wheels and painted hardwood stable doors.

The construction comprised a timber frame with tongue and groove pine wall panelling throughout the interior.

Cameron explained that his wife Samantha was responsible for aesthetic selections within their household and had made an excellent choice with this particular model.

When questioned about the growing appeal of shepherd’s huts, which often bypass standard planning permission requirements, Cameron characterised his own structure as particularly attractive.

He observed that such structures were becoming increasingly prevalent but considered his hut to possess special qualities, citing its colour scheme as complementing the local Cotswold stone architecture.

The company’s most recent financial statements, covering the period ending September 30, 2025, documented current liabilities of £509,303.

These obligations encompassed bank lending, trade payables and amounts owed for taxation and national insurance contributions.

Staffing levels averaged 14 employees during this period, compared with 11 the previous year.
