A 45-year-old man is due to enter a plea in connection with the death of a woman in Henley during March.
Nelio Gouveia, whose address was listed as Phyllis Court Drive in Henley-on-Thames, appeared before Oxford Crown Court on September 23.
He is accused of killing Jennifer Symonds in the Henley area earlier this year.
During the court appearance, Gouveia was dressed in a grey jumper and kept his eyes lowered throughout the proceedings.
The defendant had been scheduled to enter a plea at this hearing.
However, the defence team indicated through barrister Clare Wade KC that a toxicology analysis remained incomplete.
As a result, the case was adjourned until October 23, when Gouveia is expected to enter his plea.
A provisional date of December 7 had previously been allocated for the trial to begin.
Thames Valley Police initiated a murder inquiry following a call to Phyllis Court Drive on March 6.
Officers attended the location and discovered the body of Ms Symonds.
A post-mortem examination established that she died as a result of drowning, according to information presented at an earlier court hearing.
