A historic coaching inn dating back to the 17th century has welcomed customers back following extensive renovation work.
The Red Lion, located on the green in Adderbury near Banbury, Oxfordshire, has completed a six-figure transformation programme.
The Grade II listed establishment, operated by Greene King, reopened its doors after the major project was finished.
The refurbishment was designed to merge the traditional features of the centuries-old building with contemporary amenities.
Works were carried out both inside the property and across its exterior.
Original character elements have been carefully preserved throughout the renovation.
New décor, flooring, furnishings and lighting were introduced in a style intended to complement the existing architecture.
The lavatory facilities also received updates, while the outside areas were enhanced with refreshed planting, signage, lighting and additional décor.
The venue’s general manager, Daniel Anderson, commented following the official reopening.
He described it as a privilege to contribute to the next chapter of a coaching inn with such an extensive and distinguished history.
The works had been meticulously organised to improve comfort while maintaining the establishment’s established atmosphere.
Anderson noted that for several centuries, the venue had served both residents and travellers seeking refreshment, and this tradition continued.
The offering included a broad selection of food and drink designed to accommodate various requirements and preferences.
The staff remained available to extend a friendly reception to newcomers and regular patrons alike.
