A young person from Oxford has been taken into custody by officers following an overnight incident that left a man with serious injuries.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that emergency services attended Montagu Road in the Botley area at approximately 2am on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man aged in his twenties with significant injuries.

The victim was subsequently taken to hospital where his condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

A police perimeter was established at the scene while investigators worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault.

Authorities have indicated that the matter appears to be an isolated occurrence with no broader risk to the public.

Investigating officers confirmed that a 19-year-old male from Oxford was detained in connection with the offence.

The individual remains in police custody as enquiries proceed.

He has been detained on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.

A force representative stated that while incidents of this nature may generate concern among local residents, the public should be assured that the matter is contained and there is no indication of any wider threat.

Additional officers have been deployed to the vicinity to conduct visible patrols and address any concerns raised by community members.
