Multiple properties in the Cotswolds region were burgled, with cash and jewellery reported among items taken.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that residential break-ins occurred in Charlbury, Enstone, and Chipping Norton during the night spanning September 11 to September 12.
Police community support officer Wesley Smith provided details on incidents in two of the affected locations.
In the first case, near Charlbury, access was obtained to a dwelling on Ditchley Road by breaking windows at the rear entrance.

Both properties were accessed from the rear, with offenders either forcing entry through back doors or breaking windows using a brick.

Investigators believe the perpetrators are selecting homes that appear unoccupied.
Smith noted that opportunistic offenders frequently search for simple indicators that a property is empty, such as curtains remaining closed during daylight hours, post accumulating behind doors, or driveways without vehicles.
One of the most effective measures to prevent this type of criminal activity involves creating the impression that a property is inhabited.
This can be achieved through the use of timer-operated lighting, arranging for someone to inspect the premises periodically, and maintaining an appearance of activity while residents are away.
