A 48-year-old resident of Charlbury has been ordered to pay financial penalties after being detected operating a BMW above the posted speed limit on a road in Liverpool.
Benjamin James was captured by speed measurement equipment travelling at 36mph on Scotland Road in the section situated between Leeds Street and Wilbraham Street.
The incident took place on September 4 last year at 11.27am.
The applicable speed restriction for that particular road was 30mph.
The velocity was recorded using manned monitoring apparatus.
The 30mph limit in that location is indicated by street lighting positioned less than 200 yards apart.
James submitted a guilty plea through the Single Justice Procedure, with his case heard on August 10, 2026.
The court imposed a £100 fine alongside a £40 surcharge to support victim services.
Three penalty points were endorsed on his driving record.
A collection order for the monetary penalty was issued by the court.
Judicial authorities confirmed that James’s admission of culpability was considered when determining the penalty.
No costs order was imposed.
