A consultation has been launched inviting members of the public to submit feedback on Cherwell District Council’s proposed Licensing Act.
The initiative forms part of a formal public consultation process, providing an opportunity for local residents and businesses to express their views regarding the draft legislation, which governs licensed premises and organized events throughout the district.
In its capacity as the licensing authority under the Licensing Act 2003, Cherwell District Council holds responsibility for managing and enforcing various licensing categories.
These include Premises Licences, Club Premises Certificates, Personal Licences, and Temporary Event Notices.
The authority is required to develop a comprehensive Statement of Licensing Policy, which sets out the framework through which licensing responsibilities will be discharged.
The policy undergoes reassessment on a five-year cycle, with the most recent evaluation having taken place in 2021.
The current review process is intended to ensure continued adherence to the promotion of licensing objectives.
