BBC presenter Bob Harris has provided an update on his ongoing battle with cancer.
The broadcaster, known professionally as Whispering Bob, shared a message through social media platform Instagram on Monday.
Harris, who has resided in the vicinity of Abingdon for approximately three decades, revealed that his stage four prostate cancer, which was initially diagnosed in 2007, has now spread to his upper spine and is having an increasingly significant impact on him.
The veteran radio presenter, whose broadcasting career stretches back nearly six decades to his initial work on BBC Radio 1 in 1970, was compelled to reduce his involvement with BBC Radio 2 programming in June due to health complications.
In his online statement, Harris described the challenging nature of his medical journey, expressed gratitude for precious moments spent with loved ones during the summer and acknowledged the progressive nature of his illness.
Despite these developments, Harris reported that he continues to feel well.
He has commenced an intensive course of intravenous radiotherapy and expressed confidence that the treatment will help manage his condition.
The presenter, who maintains a passion for country, folk and Americana music, has recently introduced a new playlist service through his website.
Harris concluded his message with words of encouragement, thanking supporters for their expressions of kindness and urging others facing hardship to maintain their resolve and continue forward.
