According to a spokesperson, the company has been addressing urgent network maintenance in the Bagley Wood area of Kennington.
To carry out the work securely, the closure has been positioned at the intersection with Bagley Wood Road.
Workers completed an interim fix, though the pipe’s deteriorating state necessitates installing a new gas main segment.
Temporary traffic guidance directs drivers along the A34, with supplementary local routing available through Kennington Road and Sugworth Lane.
The essential replacement project is anticipated to extend into the following week, though barring unforeseen complications, the thoroughfare should reopen on the eighteenth of September.

Boars Hill has been cut off from two Oxford Bus Company routes, the X1 and X15.
Both lines have been rerouted to operate along the A34 in both directions, meaning passengers can no longer access stops at Hinksey Hill Bottom, Hinksey Hill Top, the Sawmill, or Sugworth Lane.
