The former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell reportedly feared her marriage to Formula One executive Christian Horner had reached an irrecoverable point.
The couple, who exchanged vows in 2015, found themselves navigating uncertainty following Horner’s departure from the energy drink company where he had served for two decades.
The pair maintain a residence valued at approximately £9.2 million located in the Oxfordshire area, close to Banbury.
A communication issued at the beginning of July 2025 confirmed that Horner had been relieved of his operational responsibilities effective Wednesday, July 9.
The statement designated Laurent Mekies as the new Chief Executive Officer of Red Bull Racing.
During this period, Halliwell reportedly sought comfort from companions including fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm.
A source speaking to Heat magazine indicated that Halliwell had endured significant hardship over the preceding eighteen months.
The individual explained that she had maintained composure publicly while confronting the fallout from Horner’s text messaging controversy, but his dismissal combined with her monetary difficulties had prompted concerns about the couple’s future together.
The source stated that Halliwell harboured deep affection for Horner and remained committed to preserving their union.
The financial difficulties affecting Halliwell originated from her publishing venture, Falcon Queen Productions.
The enterprise reported losses of £750,000, a substantial increase from the £276,000 deficit recorded in the prior period.
As of August 2024, total obligations exceeded £1 million.
Horner had occupied the position of team principal at Red Bull Racing since 2005, a tenure during which the organisation secured eight drivers’ world championships and six constructors’ titles.
According to reports from The Express published the previous September, Horner ultimately accepted a settlement of approximately £80 million following extended negotiations, though BBC Sport cited a figure closer to £52 million.
