Five food businesses across Oxfordshire are recorded with a zero food hygiene rating, the lowest score possible under the Food Standards Agency’s scheme.
Those listed are Baweja Superstore, Peppers Burgers and Track & Tonic in Oxford, Dunelm in Banbury and KEBANOS in Bicester.
Baweja Superstore, located at 334–336 Abingdon Road in Oxford, received its most recent inspection on April 28 this year.
Peppers Burgers, based at 84 Walton Street, was inspected on March 31 and remains shown with a zero score.
The Food Standards Agency has since carried out another inspection, with the updated rating yet to appear.
Track & Tonic has an address of 19 Park End Street in Oxford and is also assigned a zero rating.
Its most recent published inspection occurred on August 5, making it the latest-inspected business among the five holding the lowest score.
Dunelm, at Dunelm Mill, Southam Road, Banbury, was inspected on March 17 and is likewise listed at zero.
KEBANOS, situated at Unit EY1B, Pioneer Square, Bure Place, Bicester, received an inspection on April 23 and also has a zero rating.
Following an inspection by food safety officers from the relevant local authority, businesses covered by the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme receive a score from zero to five.
A score of five represents very good hygiene standards, four represents good standards and three means standards are generally satisfactory.
Businesses awarded two are considered to need some improvement, while a rating of one indicates that major improvement is necessary.
A zero means urgent improvement is required.
Assessments consider how food is handled, the condition of the premises and the systems businesses use to manage and document food-safety measures.
The published results allow members of the public to view the hygiene standards identified during an inspection.
The scores relate specifically to hygiene rather than food quality or other aspects of a business.
Food businesses in England are encouraged to display their hygiene rating, although this is not compulsory.
Current ratings are available through the Food Standards Agency’s online food hygiene ratings service.
