Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has revisited one of Oxford’s most prestigious hotels.

Last year, the legal professional, who is married to actor George Clooney, took up a position as a visiting professor of practice at the Blavatnik School of Government within Oxford University.

Sources indicate that during the summer months, she lodged at The Store, a 101-room upscale establishment situated at the intersection of Cornmarket Street and Broad Street.

Earlier this month, Clooney returned to the property for an evening meal at the Treadwell establishment, where she also arranged a dinner for attendees on behalf of the organisation she co-founded with her husband.

The Clooney Foundation for Justice delivers complimentary legal assistance supporting freedom of expression and women’s rights across more than forty nations.

It is believed George Clooney collected his spouse at the conclusion of an evening gathering last week.

An observer described his arrival as appearing debonair.

Upon her appointment to the academic post the previous year, Clooney stated she felt honoured to return to Oxford, this time as a faculty member rather than a student.

She described it as a privilege to have the chance to interact with emerging international leaders and contribute to Oxford’s dynamic scholarly environment, expressing anticipation for working alongside colleagues and students to promote global access to justice.

Clooney pursued law studies at St Hugh’s College, Oxford, beginning in 1996, where she was awarded an exhibition scholarship and the distinguished Shrigley Award, which recognises outstanding achievement in legal studies.

She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence in 2000 and enrolled at New York University School of Law the subsequent year to pursue a Master of Laws degree.

The Store, which commenced operations in May 2024, has garnered positive assessments for its Treadwell dining venue, wellness facilities and elevated terrace.

Condé Nast Traveller magazine ranked the property first among six leading establishments in Oxfordshire earlier this year.

Reviewers noted the boutique property’s accommodations, priced from £172 per night, as comfortable, refined and well-appointed.

Following its selection as the best option for those seeking an alternative historical experience, the publication observed that since its summer 2024 inauguration, the venue had rapidly become an effortless addition to the locality, offering straightforward stays while drawing local residents with its inviting spaces for beverages, romantic perspectives from the roof and calming spa.

The assessment described the guest rooms as aligning with the property’s overall aesthetic of comfort, sophistication and polish.

Critics noted that patrons can relax with drinks and light fare in the principal reception area, though Treadwell, positioned toward the rear of the building, functions as the hotel’s culinary centrepiece.

The restaurant features contemporary dark timber furnishings, bare light fixtures and teal-upholstered seating, complemented by an expansive artwork by artist Samme Snow depicting whimsical illustrations of the district’s most cherished figures and architecture, from neighbourhood food producers and dining establishments to prominent clock towers and historic collegiate buildings.

Film actor George Clooney, known for his role in the Oceans franchise, is reported to possess a fortune exceeding five hundred million dollars.
