Oxford Ghost Tour returns October 24-31 with 75-minute evening walks

Oxford’s annual supernatural walking experience is set to spook visitors again this autumn.

City Sightseeing Oxford will operate its Haunted Oxford walk for the sixth consecutive year, allowing participants to explore the city’s darker history and mysterious happenings through guided storytelling.

The 75-minute route covers the historic centre on foot, with Tom McDonnell serving as guide.

McDonnell has penned a study of Oxfordshire’s unexplained phenomena, and has spent 14 years leading similar nocturnal expeditions.

According to Kamini Patel, who manages retail and tourism operations for City Sightseeing Oxford, new unsettling elements have been incorporated to enhance the seasonal atmosphere.

She noted that McDonnell’s extensive background ensures the tour remains engaging and continues to develop year after year.

The experience appeals to both residents familiar with the city and newcomers seeking autumnal entertainment.

Evening departures begin at 5pm from the Visitor Information Point on High Street throughout the final week of October.

Participants should plan to arrive beforehand, and families with small children may wish to consider the intensity of the content before booking.

Admission costs £19 for general entry, with reduced rates of £17 available for older visitors and students, while children can attend for £13.

Patel indicated that advance reservations are filling quickly, advising those interested to secure their spots promptly.

Bespoke group bookings may be organised by contacting the operator’s private events department.
