Charles Durrett, an American specialist in cohousing with more than four decades of experience designing and touring cohousing communities across multiple countries, will visit Oxfordshire for a public engagement event.
The gathering has been arranged through collaboration between the UK Cohousing Network, Transition by Design, and Oxford Cohousing.
The event is set for Tuesday, September 29, running from 6:30pm until 9pm.
Mr Durrett will share the platform with three additional panellists: Owen Jarvis, Wongani Mwanza, and Fran Ryan.
Together they will explore strategies for strengthening communities through cohousing models and expanding resident-led housing initiatives throughout Oxford and the surrounding area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to socialise and make connections over drinks and light refreshments.
Signed editions of Mr Durrett’s published works will also be available for purchase at the venue.
The organisers intend to draw upon Mr Durrett’s worldwide expertise to encourage the development of vibrant, interconnected residential communities in the region.
Following the formal programme, discussion will extend to a nearby public house.
Revenue generated through ticket sales will meet the expenses of staging the event, with any remaining funds directed towards educational programmes, mentoring schemes, and promotional activities supporting the expansion of cohousing across the United Kingdom.
