Thames Valley Police are urging residents in Oxford to remain vigilant and avoid approaching a man being sought in connection with alleged strangulation offences.
Officers have confirmed a search is underway for Neil Wells, 28, who is originally from Oxford.
The individual is sought regarding several incidents in which he allegedly strangled and assaulted an acquaintance.
He is additionally wanted in connection with an allegation of possessing an offensive weapon in a private setting.
According to a police spokesperson, the incidents are alleged to have occurred on 6 and 10 September.
The victim sustained injuries requiring medical treatment and has since been discharged from hospital.
Despite being associated with Oxford, Wells is described as possessing a Liverpool accent alongside several facial tattoos.
The force has released a description identifying him as a white male, approximately 6 feet in height, of slim build, with long straight brown hair and a beard.
He is known to frequent both Oxford and the Milton Keynes area.
