Improvement works are scheduled to commence on a major thoroughfare providing access to the city.
Oxfordshire County Council will undertake comprehensive upgrades along the A4130, encompassing drainage installations, road and pavement resurfacing, and modifications to street infrastructure including bus stop facilities.
A local representative indicated the project would extend for approximately three months.
The modifications are slated for completion by late autumn.
Construction activities will be limited to daytime periods between late morning and mid-afternoon, though local residents may experience some travel disruptions.
Unexpected complications arose when temporary signalling equipment was deployed ahead of the permitted work window.
Community members voiced concerns about the premature traffic management arrangements.
Key enhancements include an eastward extension of the existing 30mph zone by roughly 130 metres, paired Toucan crossings positioned on either side of the roundabout connecting to the Hadden Hill retail area, and four new bus stop clearways bearing restrictions prohibiting stopping except for local bus services.
The scheme forms part of the proposed HIF1 viaduct and road bridge initiative.
Additional features comprise a segregated foot and cycle path measuring five metres in width along the northern section and a three-metre shared foot and cycle path situated on the southern side.
Along the A4130 Abingdon Road section, two further Toucan crossings will be established adjacent to the Tamar Way junction, accompanied by two additional bus stop clearways with matching restrictions.
A five-metre segregated foot and cycle path will be constructed on the eastern side, while a three-metre shared foot and cycle path will occupy the western side, positioned south of Tamar Way.
A local representative, currently absent from the area, maintained communication with highways officials and confirmed that the signalling concerns would be resolved.
Residents have been urged to reorganise their travel plans and allocate additional time for journeys throughout the construction period.
