Emergency services responded to reports of a serious collision on the A44 in Oxfordshire on the evening of September 20.
The incident occurred near the village of Yarnton, close to the junction with Cassington Road, resulting in significant disruption to traffic in the area.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the crash.
A dark-coloured BMW M4 sports car collided with a grey Mazda 6 saloon, while a white commercial van was also caught up in the incident.
The driver of the BMW sustained serious injuries and required hospitalisation.
Two other individuals involved in the collision received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions following the collision, with traffic management arrangements put in place between Sandy Lane and the A4260 at Loop Farm roundabout.
Traffic monitoring services reported that despite the closure, traffic flow in the surrounding area was coping adequately.
Investigators from the Roads Policing Unit are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Officers are particularly keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or captured relevant footage on dash cameras.
Investigators are also interested in hearing from anyone who may have observed any of the vehicles before the collision occurred, as such information could prove valuable in reconstructing the sequence of events.
