An autumn endurance event is preparing to welcome thousands of participants to the Chilterns.
The Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge is scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 September, offering three distance options across the picturesque Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Runners, joggers and walkers can choose between 50km, 25km and 10km courses.
The circular course begins and ends at Henley Showground, traversing Shakespeare’s Way, waterways, heritage properties and stretches of the renowned Chiltern Way.
An Ultra Challenge representative confirmed that one of the region’s most significant mass-participation occasions is scheduled to return this autumn, drawing competitors from throughout Britain and injecting momentum into Oxfordshire’s local communities.
Participants will benefit from comprehensive provisions throughout the event, including periodic pause points, sustenance and hydration, cooked meals at the main camp, and specialised welfare personnel.
The organisers highlighted that the gathering would deliver meaningful economic stimulus to the surrounding area, drawing additional visitors to Henley and neighbouring settlements, with advantages for accommodation providers, taverns, restaurants and retail outlets.
The invitation extends across all experience levels, with competitors encouraged to progress at their own speed whether covering the route on foot or through running.
Many of those enrolling are collecting money for charitable organisations, and officials anticipate the occasion will produce in excess of £250,000 in charitable contributions.
