A Culham-based educational institution has secured global accreditation for its Spanish programme.
Europa School UK, located near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, is set to become one of the initial educational establishments in Britain and across the continent to participate in the International Spanish Academy initiative.
The distinction acknowledges the exceptional quality of the institution’s Spanish department and carries official endorsement from Spain’s Ministry of Education.
The establishment enters this framework alongside the Bilingual Primary School operating within Brighton and Hove.
This accomplishment supplements the school’s current international credentials.
The institution maintains membership in PASCH, an acronym denoting Partnership Schools for the Future, an initiative administered by the Goethe-Institut, acknowledging the strength of its German department.
Additionally, the school has been awarded the Label FrancEducation, signifying excellence in French instruction.
With the addition of ISA status, all three language departments at the establishment now possess formal international accreditation.
Two significant occasions will commemorate this recent accomplishment: a formal visit from Spain’s Deputy Minister responsible for Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, followed by a ceremonial signing ceremony on Wednesday, September 30.
The latter gathering will take place at the London residence of Spain’s Ambassador, officially commencing the ISA programme throughout the United Kingdom.
Attendees will include representatives from Spain’s Ministry of Education, the UK Department for Education, the British Council, higher education institutions, Members of Parliament, and local authority officials.
The institution first opened its doors in September 2012, initially enrolling reception pupils alongside Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts.
An additional year group was introduced each subsequent September until 2017, when the full secondary phase became operational.
Pupils in the primary phase receive instruction across two languages, with English comprising two and a half days of the school week and either French, German, or Spanish covering the remaining instructional time.
The establishment operates as an IB World School and ranks among the limited number of state-funded schools throughout Britain providing the IB Diploma qualification.
