A court case has heard testimony from a woman who claimed her former partner assaulted her on multiple occasions.
The 35-year-old defendant, from Sandy Lane in Oxford, faces allegations relating to six separate incidents of violence.
The jury at Oxford Crown Court was informed that the alleged assaults occurred between December 2024 and March of this year.
He has entered pleas of not guilty to four charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two charges of intentional strangulation.
Proceedings on September 15 included testimony from the complainant.
The defence, led by Kelly Purcell-Chandler, presented footage captured by the defendant while operating a vehicle with the complainant seated beside him.
During the recording, the woman made threats and expressed distress.
She struck out at him while the vehicle was in motion.
In her subsequent account, she described acting in anger and maintained that her behaviour had changed as a result of the relationship.
Further testimony addressed an incident of alleged strangulation inside the vehicle, which reportedly took place shortly after the recording.
She described screaming, the defendant securing the vehicle doors, and feeling pressure applied to her throat.
She stated she sat crying and disoriented.
The court was told the accusations had affected her significantly, making it difficult to rebuild her life.
Harriet Lawrence, presenting the prosecution case, outlined the allegations.
The defendant maintained through his legal team that no assaults occurred and that the complainant would sometimes injure herself.
According to the prosecution, the first incident happened in December 2024 when the complainant discovered the defendant had a child with someone else.
An altercation followed during which she was allegedly struck repeatedly on the arm and had her face pressed against the ground.
She called for assistance and threw furniture at him.
On November 14, a further argument allegedly resulted in strangulation.
On December 9, after another dispute, she was allegedly struck in the face.
On February 13 this year, while travelling together, the complainant grew suspicious and attempted to take the defendant’s phone.
She was subsequently struck in the eye.
Another incident occurred during a journey to see the defendant’s relatives, which she did not wish to undertake.
The prosecution stated the defendant gripped her throat and applied pressure.
She subsequently attended Cowley Police Station, leading to his arrest.
When questioned by officers, the defendant stated an argument had taken place but described it as minor.
The case remained under consideration.
