Crown Inn Woodstock director reported to Insolvency Service over missing books

Published on

The Crown Inn Woodstock Ltd entered voluntary liquidation during the summer of the previous year, according to documentation filed with Companies House.

The establishment, situated in the Oxfordshire town of Woodstock, operates as a Grade II protected 18th century property offering accommodation and dining services and continues to function commercially despite the winding-up proceedings.

Manchester-based firm Fortis Insolvency, represented by insolvency practitioner Daniel Taylor, received instructions to manage the dissolution of the company.

Financial statements filed at the commencement of the process documented liabilities amounting to £200,571 owed across three separate creditors.

Subsequently published documentation from Mr Taylor indicates that director Julian Rosser failed to submit company books and records alongside incomplete questionnaire responses as part of the formal liquidation procedure.

Consequently, a confidential submission regarding the director’s behaviour has been forwarded to the Insolvency Service for review.

These conduct filings, submitted by insolvency practitioners, may trigger disqualification inquiries, though such investigations do not always follow and the reports themselves remain protected from public disclosure.

Regarding creditor claims, initial assessments projected unsecured creditor entitlements at approximately £50,571.28.

However, submissions received from five creditors now total £87,462.01 in unsecured claims.

At present, no outstanding claims exist and none have been approved for distribution purposes.

HM Revenue and Customs has registered secondary preferential claims totaling £236,124.91, predominantly comprising taxation and national insurance contributions, though these too remain unapproved for dividend distribution.

Mr Rosser contested the liquidator’s assertions, maintaining that all requisite accounts and statements had been furnished as required.
