A crowdfunding campaign established to support a school in Oxfordshire following a fire has amassed almost £3,000 in donations.
The funds will benefit The Warriner School in Banbury, where fire crews responded to reports of a blaze at the school’s farm.
James Britchford, a firefighter from the local area, created the online fundraising page to gather support for the institution.
The campaign organiser stated that young people at the school had been deeply affected by the incident and appealed for assistance to help both the animals and the school community recover.
The appeal aims to raise money to rebuild following the fire, which destroyed a barn housing animal supplies.
The conflagration has left livestock without essential food and bedding materials.
The school now requires immediate assistance to construct replacement facilities and provide necessary care for the animals.
Contributions will cover the cost of a new barn structure, hay and bedding provisions, and restoration work on fencing and nearby areas affected by the flames.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service received the emergency call at approximately 3:40pm on Thursday, September 10.
Four fire engines were dispatched to the location.
The farm is situated on Grove Road and occupies approximately 50 hectares of land, home to cattle, lambs, pigs, hens, goats and donkeys.
A representative for the school confirmed that a hay storage building on the farm property caught fire at around 3:15pm that afternoon.
The representative emphasised that all animals were unharmed and never at risk.
The structure housed only hay.
