A Post Office branch is set to resume operations in Headington beginning tomorrow, marking the return of the service to the area nine months after the previous outlet ceased trading.
The closure occurred when the premises on London Road were shut in preparation for the demolition of the host building.
Previously situated within a Co-Operative store, the branch ceased operations on the final day of the previous year to accommodate development plans for research and office facilities.
A petition advocating for the continuation of postal services gathered support from more than 1,200 local residents during the campaign period.
The newly secured location at 12 Windmill Road will commence operations on September 15 at 1pm.
Trading hours have been established as Monday through Saturday, from 9am until 5.30pm, representing a weekly service provision exceeding 51 hours.
The range of products and services offered at the outlet will remain largely consistent with what was previously available.
According to Post Office representative Sheila Tapster, the replacement branch sits approximately 280 metres from the former site.
Parking facilities for visitors are accessible at the pay-and-display area located 120 metres away on St Leonards Road.
The updated premises feature accessibility provisions including a widened entrance door, a ramp for level access, an internal hearing loop system, and adequate space to accommodate wheelchair users.
Tapster noted that the relocation of the branch constitutes a commercial decision by the Post Office and that feedback regarding this particular aspect of the change would not be sought.
She added that comments and suggestions concerning access arrangements to and within the new premises would however be welcomed.
