The Rising Sun in Witheridge Hill, Highmoor, near Henley, has been named winner of the best garden prize at the Brakspear awards 2026.
The Oxfordshire pub received recognition from its parent company for the quality of its outdoor spaces.
The establishment, which dates back to the 17th century, occupies a rural position in the Chilterns.
The setting has proved well-suited to the development of its gardens, which have been enhanced through the work of landlord John Bowe.
Bowe began his tenure as landlord in 2020.
During that time, he has worked in partnership with The Flower Tap to establish a cut flower enterprise at The Rising Sun.
Plants are grown in polytunnels, a greenhouse and a storage building.
The business also offers cards, picture designs and vases for sale, alongside pastries from Imma the Bakery, which operates from the site.
Imma the Bakery has received its own accolades.
The tenants additionally maintain 30 rescued battery hens and 55 ducks on the premises.
Bowe undertakes the design and creation of all hanging baskets at the venue.
Approximately 70 hanging baskets and containers have been produced for display this year.
