A complimentary shuttle service will be provided in Faringdon during significant roadworks.
The transport operator and local authority are collaborating to operate the bus along Coxwell Road while the A420 and Great Coxwell junction undergoes closure.
The road will be shut from 7 September 2026 through to 16 April 2027.
The closure enables the creation of a new signal-controlled intersection, installation of a right-turn lane, and the relocation of utility infrastructure.
The works order has been issued due to the expansion of the current road surface as well.
These improvements will allow traffic, including buses, to move more efficiently from recently constructed housing estates in Faringdon onto the westbound A420.
The S6 route connecting Oxford and Swindon operated by Stagecoach will be unable to travel along Coxwell Road as a result of the restrictions.
The no-cost shuttle will link the affected area to the town centre and the S6 service, ensuring passengers can still access public transport.
A signed diversion will direct motorists via the A420, London Street, Coxwell Street, and Coxwell Road.
A spokesperson for the county council stated that the order would remain in effect for a maximum of 18 months or until construction concludes, whichever occurs first.
Emergency services vehicles are excluded from the closure restrictions.
Signage will inform drivers of the road closure.
The housing development associated with the Coxwell Road works is Badbury Green, a Wain Homes project located at The Steeds and land south of Steeds Farm along Coxwell Road in Faringdon.
Outline planning permission has been granted for a maximum of 125 dwellings along with public open space.
The developer is currently selling the development under the Badbury Green name, with multiple phases under construction and properties available for purchase.
