Thames Valley Police have provided new details regarding an incident in Banbury on Friday, September 4, in which a man sustained injuries and required hospital treatment.
Emergency services attended the scene in the vicinity of People’s Park and St Mary’s Churchyard at approximately 6.30am.
The victim, a man aged in his thirties, was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Officers established cordons around sections of both the park and churchyard on Friday morning as forensic and investigative work commenced.
An update released by Thames Valley Police on Monday, September 9, confirmed that no individuals had been arrested or charged in relation to the assault.
Police further stated that the victim had been discharged from hospital, with his injuries characterised as not life-changing.
Detective Inspector James Holden-White, who is leading the investigation, stated that the force understood concerns the incident may have raised within the local community and assured that the matter was being treated as a priority.
The detective indicated that the assault was believed to have been targeted and that those responsible could be known to the victim.
