The annual Bunkfest celebration in Wallingford marked its 22nd year this weekend, with organisers using the occasion to recognise the hundreds of volunteers who make the free music festival possible.
The three-day event featured more than 170 musical performances across multiple stages, with over 700 individuals contributing their time across various roles throughout the weekend.
The voluntary committee responsible for staging the festival dedicated this year’s programme to those who give up their spare time to run the event.
On Sunday, the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire attended the gathering to formally present the King’s Award for Voluntary Service to the dedicated volunteer team.
The honour, which mirrors the recognition given to individuals through an MBE, represents the highest accolade available to voluntary organisations throughout the United Kingdom.
Such awards are conferred for the duration of the recipient group’s existence.
The celebration extended beyond the award presentation, with entertainment continuing across several locations including the Kinecroft, the Bull Croft, and numerous venues throughout the town.
The programme encompassed music and dance offerings suitable for all ages.
Attendance figures reached into the thousands over the course of the weekend.
The Cholsey & Wallingford Railway, which provides transport between Cholsey station and the festival site, recorded its highest-ever passenger numbers during the event.
