Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has announced the appointment of a new chief executive following a rigorous selection process.
Dr Michael Holland assumed the position on Monday, September 7, transitioning from his former role at North London NHS Foundation Trust.
The incoming chief executive brings clinical expertise and extensive leadership experience within the National Health Service to his new appointment.
In his capacity as chief executive, Dr Holland will oversee the delivery of community-based services, mental health provisions, and learning disability support throughout Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, and surrounding regions.
Upon his appointment, Dr Holland expressed enthusiasm about joining the organisation and noted the evident commitment demonstrated by staff members across various departments.
He indicated that his initial focus would involve engaging with workforce members, gaining insights into operational realities, and identifying key priorities for patients, employees, and partner organisations.
Over the coming months, Dr Holland plans to conduct visits to multiple service locations and interact with colleagues throughout the trust.
Dr Holland takes over from Grant Macdonald, who has concluded his tenure after almost four decades of service within the NHS.
Andrea Young, who chairs Oxford Health, conveyed her pleasure at welcoming Dr Holland to the organisation.
She highlighted his substantial expertise, understanding of healthcare delivery, and dedication to serving the public as qualities that will prove invaluable to the trust.
Young stated her anticipation of collaborative working relationships and noted that staff across the organisation would be joining her in extending a warm welcome to the new chief executive.
