The playing surfaces in Witney are showing signs of recovery as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2026/27 football season.
Witney Town Council has confirmed that work is underway to get all football pitches across the town ready for the new campaign.
The authority stated that the recent spell of hot and dry conditions had presented difficulties for ground maintenance teams, though the turf was beginning to respond positively to more favourable weather.
Staff employed directly by the council have been conducting essential work away from public view, while dedicated grounds maintenance personnel have been focused on preparing the actual playing surfaces.
These efforts aim to ensure that the facilities will be suitable for participants spanning all age groups.
The council expressed gratitude to the grounds maintenance workforce for their dedication, expertise and ongoing efforts.
