Rescue cat Ray, 13, needs urgent dental treatment and extractions

A 13-year-old Norwegian Forest Cat named Ray has arrived at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home after experiencing a significant life change, and shelter workers are now seeking public assistance to fund urgent dental care he requires.

A recent veterinary assessment determined that Ray’s oral health has deteriorated considerably.

The elderly feline now faces the prospect of multiple tooth extractions and substantial dental rehabilitation to address his condition.

Shelter personnel have characterised Ray as an affectionate and gentle companion whose temperament remains remarkably positive despite his discomfort.

With advancing age, the animal faces challenges that demand intervention to ensure he can experience comfort during his later years.

The charitable organisation has initiated a fundraising campaign to finance Ray’s medical expenses.

A spokesperson explained that veterinary costs have escalated substantially, placing considerable strain on animal welfare organisations that strive to maintain comprehensive care standards for animals in their custody.

The representative noted that organisations providing refuge for numerous animals encounter financial pressures when medical requirements arise.

Expenses encompassing surgical procedures, diagnostic assessments, emergency interventions, and routine treatments have increased alongside rises in operational costs such as nourishment and energy supplies.

Despite these economic pressures, the shelter has committed to preserving the standard of care extended to every animal under its supervision.

The spokesperson emphasised that each creature admitted through their doors depends upon the organisation fulfilling its obligation to provide necessary medical attention.

Workers expressed optimism that successful treatment would enable Ray to spend his remaining years free from pain, with the potential to be placed in a caring domestic environment once his recovery progresses sufficiently.

The charity has appealed to members of the public to contribute towards ensuring Ray receives the healthcare he requires.

Contributions directed through the organisation’s official platform can assist with covering veterinary fees and supporting his convalescence.
