Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May could feature more frequently in the forthcoming series of The Grand Tour following the programme’s return next week.
The three presenters are scheduled to appear during the show’s comeback episode.
Andy Wilman, who collaborated with the trio during their Top Gear tenure and subsequent Amazon Prime Video project, has suggested the original hosts may make additional contributions throughout the upcoming series.
During a recent question and answer session, Wilman noted that the three veterans would appear in the opening series, describing the arrangement as having a Marvel multiverse quality.
Wilman expressed enthusiasm for expanding this approach in subsequent series, stating that the concept had proven effective so far.
Clarkson, May, and Hammond served as the faces of The Grand Tour from its launch in 2016 through 2024, having departed the BBC’s Top Gear programme in 2014.
Their involvement in the new series will take the form of cameo appearances alongside the recently announced presenting team.
The incoming presenters include Francis Bourgeois, the well-known trainspotting personality, alongside James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, the creators of the YouTube channel Throttle House.
A preview of the new series shows the three presenters travelling to Clarkson’s farm in Oxfordshire.
In the teaser, Clarkson offers the newcomers his encouragement, telling them to enjoy themselves and wishing them luck while advising them not to ruin the opportunity.
Clarkson also revealed that he had monitored their recent work over the past eighteen months, describing their abilities as impressive and expressing confidence that viewers would appreciate their contribution to the programme.
