Kidlington residents invited to free flood preparation event at Exeter Hall

Local households are being called upon to take part in a flood readiness initiative intended to support homeowners in defending their properties against water damage.

The gathering is slated for Thursday, September 24, at Exeter Hall in Kidlington, operating between 2pm and 7pm.

Cherwell District Council has joined forces with Oxfordshire County Council to stage the complimentary Oxfordshire Flood Preparation occasion, which extends a welcome to local inhabitants, commercial operators, and dwelling owners alike.

Visitors will gain access to specialists whose work centres on flood risk management and can explore practical measures designed to lower vulnerability to flooding.

Representatives from the council noted the importance of equipping residents with knowledge as climate conditions shift and intense precipitation becomes more frequent.

Laura Gordon, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member responsible for environment and economy, remarked on the necessity of maintaining awareness about flood dangers despite the recent summer’s heat.

She pointed out that the county has endured over 20 notable flood occurrences since 2007, making it imperative for families to seek guidance from professionals in the field.

The session will feature flood risk professionals, regional tradespeople, and enterprises concentrating on flood resilience, who stand prepared to deliver customized recommendations and showcase available protective equipment.

The local authority expressed satisfaction at cooperating with partner organisations to consolidate expertise across the county for the benefit of all attendees.
