The trial of a man facing allegations of violence against his former partner has been halted after the jury was discharged.
Neoklid Demiraj, aged 35 and residing in Sandy Lane, Oxford, stood accused of carrying out six separate incidents of violence against his former partner.
The charges related to alleged offences said to have taken place between March of the previous year and March of the current year.
Demiraj entered pleas of not guilty to four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, along with two counts of intentional strangulation.
Court proceedings were informed that by March this year, the pair had been together for approximately 18 months.
The court heard that during March of the previous year, the complainant discovered that Demiraj had a child from an earlier relationship.
A dispute developed between them, during which Demiraj allegedly struck the complainant on the arm five times.
It was further alleged that he placed his foot against her eye while she was lying on the ground.
Following the discharge of the jury, proceedings have been adjourned and a fresh trial has been scheduled to commence on September 14 at Oxford Crown Court.
