A consultation event is set to take place as part of efforts to develop plans for Didcot’s garden town initiative.
The Harwell Village Hall will host the Didcot Garden Town Community Update Meeting on Wednesday evening, September 30, between 5pm and 7.30pm.
Residents from Didcot and nearby villages have been encouraged to attend.
South Oxfordshire District Council’s Councillor Anne-Marie Simpson, who serves as Cabinet Member for Planning Policy including Garden Communities, stated that numerous projects were being developed in the town and surrounding areas under the Didcot Garden Town Programme.
She noted the event presented a valuable opportunity to learn about upcoming work, which encompassed community artwork installations, signage improvements and the Healthy Didcot scheme.
She emphasised that progress depended on collaboration between partner organisations and the wider community rather than any single team.
Attendees will also receive information regarding the Broadway housing development initiative alongside updates on leisure facilities across the district.
Discussions are scheduled to address heat recovery systems and preparations for extreme weather conditions in conjunction with the authority’s Climate Team.
Representatives from National Grid and the Didcot Powerhouse are among the external organisations scheduled to participate alongside council officers.
Vale of White Horse District Council’s Councillor Helen Pighills, who holds responsibility for community health and wellbeing, observed that such gatherings provided a rare occasion for various groups to convene and engage directly with decision-makers.
She encouraged those attending to pose queries and share their perspectives on the proposals under consideration.
