The motoring personality Richard Hammond opted for aerial transport following his recent court appearance.
At 56 years old, the television presenter was found to have exceeded speed limits while operating a Porsche on December 2 the previous year, and was detected committing a similar offence just three weeks later while behind the wheel of a Bentley vehicle.
Telford Magistrates’ Court imposed a financial penalty of £999 and added seven penalty points to his driving record during a hearing in July.
In a video produced for the DriveTribe online platform, the former Top Gear presenter humorously addressed the precarious condition of his driving entitlement.
He explained that his licence had been left in a vulnerable state following recent incidents and that he was eager to safeguard it.
He noted that he had chosen to travel to the location by helicopter to avoid any use of public roads.
The filming took place at the Millbrook testing facility, where vehicle evaluation procedures are conducted, and Hammond was evaluating a Chinese-made sport utility vehicle.
The video concluded with the presenter displaying his driving licence to camera, warning viewers that it had seen better days and remained warm to the touch.
He expressed that nobody should handle it directly.
The presenter had previously discussed the penalty during a radio interview.
When speaking to Times Radio, he acknowledged the need to adopt a more cautious approach to driving and confirmed he would not contest speed restrictions, stating they served a valid purpose and that the speedometer reading had simply exceeded the posted limit, which he attributed entirely to his own misjudgment.
