Banbury officers were called out to handle a physical altercation during an evening duty period, with the response focusing on protecting individuals from danger, reducing potential harm, and addressing behaviour that negatively affects the local community.
Thames Valley Police’s local policing unit for Banbury deployed focused patrols throughout areas of the town recognised for anti-social activity during the night from Tuesday, September 1.
Among the situations requiring attention was a physical confrontation flagged as a priority-level incident, which local officers responded to in order to support Incident and Crime Response units.
During their patrols, attention was directed toward car parks following intelligence regarding rough sleeping and potential drug consumption.
The objective was to conduct welfare checks on those sleeping rough, provide information about available assistance services, and clear any discarded drug-related equipment.
Proactive patrol activity also resulted in two individuals being detected consuming alcohol inside a designated Public Space Protection Area.
These persons were subjected to stop checks and subsequently provided with guidance by officers.
Additionally, authorities listened to complaints from inhabitants of supported living accommodation after receiving reports of nuisance conduct involving individuals knocking on doors and subsequently fleeing the scene.
A force representative stated that neighbourhood policing encompasses considerably more than simply attending to criminal matters.
