Oxfordshire’s roads policing unit issued 38 traffic violation notices during a targeted enforcement day focusing on the Fatal Five motoring offences across Oxford and Headington.

The operation was carried out at The Plain and London Road, with the Roads Policing Tasking Team backed by Oxfordshire C-Shift officers.

Among the violations documented, 10 motorists were reported for operating a mobile phone while driving, and 23 for failing to wear a seat belt.

Additional offences recorded included one instance of an insecure load, one number plate violation, two cases of driving without insurance coverage, and one driver lacking a valid licence.

The activity resulted in three detentions.

Two motorists were held on suspicion of drug driving while one was detained for immigration-related matters.

Four cars were confiscated under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

Officers also intervened to prevent a man from stealing a bicycle during the enforcement action.

A police spokesperson stated that roads become safer when all drivers accept accountability for their behaviour. Basic decisions such as storing mobile devices away, fastening seat belts, and confirming proper licensing and insurance can avert severe injuries and protect lives. Every trip matters and every choice makes a difference. Collaboration is essential to improve road safety and guarantee that every road user arrives home without incident.
