Oxfordshire’s A34 to Close for Maintenance Throughout August

Published on

Major resurfacing work will shut a key Oxfordshire trunk route for six weeks.

The A34 southbound carriageway between Peartree roundabout and Marcham Interchange is to undergo renewal by Highways England.

Lane closures will be in effect between 8pm and 6am, commencing Monday, August 17, with the programme lasting six weeks.

Drivers heading south will need to follow a lengthy diversion via Oxford to Berinsfield, then along the A415 across Abingdon Bridge and onwards to Marcham Interchange.

During the first stage of the scheme, southbound traffic should use the A44 southwards, A40 eastwards, A4142 southwards and A423 westwards to rejoin the A34.

The second phase requires drivers to travel east along the A423, south via the A4074 and west on the A415 to reach the A34.

Construction vehicles and emergency services will be permitted to use the closed section.
