Massive A34 delays amid emergency response to serious crash

Good afternoon and welcome to this live blog. There are huge delays on the A34 on the border with Oxfordshire after a crash involving two cars blocked the road.

A crash on the A34 northbound just before East Ilsley in West Berkshire has caused long delays on the major A-road, where one lane remains closed.

Emergency services on scene

Emergency services are on the scene of the ‘serious’ road traffic collision after the M4 junction.

One lane remains closed on the A34 northbound.

‘Severe delays’

AA Traffic News is reporting ‘severe delays’ of 45 minutes on the northbound stretch of the road between Chieveley and East Ilsley.

The average speed is five miles per hour; National Highways adds that the congestion stretches for five miles.
