David Beckham has been attempting to lift supporters following last night’s World Cup elimination.
The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star attended the semi-final on Tuesday evening and witnessed England suffer a devastating 2-1 defeat to Argentina.
After Anthony Gordon gave England the lead in the 55th minute, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez equalised in the 85th minute before Lautaro Martinez netted the decisive goal in the 92nd minute.
Sir David was present at the Atlanta Stadium alongside his spouse Victoria, with both spotted cheering when England scored their opener.
The couple have resided in west Oxfordshire for a number of years, owning a large house in the Cotswolds where they rear animals including chickens.
Following the loss, Beckham turned to social media in an effort to encourage disappointed England supporters.
He expressed heartbreak but said the memories would inspire and last forever, thanking the team, the fans, and the country for what they had given throughout the World Cup.
His wife responded to his message with love heart symbols, as did numerous other social media users, with the post accumulating more than 750,000 likes.
After overcoming England, Lionel Messi’s side will face Spain in the World Cup final this coming Sunday.
England are scheduled to meet France in the third-place match on Saturday.
