Bardwell School has been commended for maintaining excellent standards throughout all aspects of its educational provision.

The Bicester-based establishment caters for learners between the ages of two and nineteen who have significant and complex requirements, and has earned a highly positive assessment from Ofsted following its recent evaluation using the revised inspection methodology.

Examiners awarded the school the top rating across all eight evaluation areas.

Headteacher Jo McGill expressed her delight at the findings, noting that they reflect the ambitious targets set for students at the school. She explained that inspectors observed no limits to what pupils can accomplish, and staff are dedicated to ensuring each young person progresses appropriately. She added that the school benefits from parents who are engaged, encouraging and devoted, collaborating effectively with the institution to support pupil achievement.

Ofsted examiners highlighted the school’s carefully planned curriculum, excellent attendance figures and successful strategies for readying students for subsequent stages. The assessment drew attention to the compassionate, supportive and considerate interactions between learners and employees, as well as the close cooperation between families and the school, which assessors deemed essential to pupil outcomes.

Examiners also acknowledged staff members for their skill in addressing each learner’s unique requirements through a personalised curriculum, enabling strong performance across all subjects.

For those departing at nineteen, inspectors determined that pupils leave with the abilities and understanding necessary to maximise their independence.

The school’s vocational guidance and workplace experience initiatives were also recognised for their effectiveness in helping students prepare for adult life.

Mrs McGill acknowledged the dedication of the workforce, stating that colleagues labour devotedly to mentor, inspire and foster the development of pupils. She emphasised that every employee consistently exceeds expectations to ensure learners feel protected, respected and at ease within the school environment. She noted that the strong attendance rates stem from pupils’ eagerness to attend daily, which reflects staff members’ tireless efforts.

The headteacher discussed future objectives, indicating continued high expectations for the establishment and its learners, and anticipating ongoing collaboration with all members of the school community to deliver an outstanding educational experience.
