Lisa Hogan, Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend, is said to be heartbroken after one of her animals died at their Oxfordshire property.
The Irish performer has been in a relationship with the former television presenter since 2017, and together they own a mansion valued at £12.5 million in the Cotswolds area.
Their agricultural life on the 1,000 acre estate located between Chadlington and Chipping Norton serves as the basis for the popular Amazon Prime programme documenting their farming activities.
A fifth season is scheduled to premiere on June 3, capturing the various challenges and successes encountered throughout a full year of agricultural work.
In his latest Sunday Times contribution, Mr Clarkson explained that Lisa’s prized and costly Valais blacknose sheep had developed mastitis.
The animal and its offspring, which were having difficulty nursing, were relocated to a temporary lambing area and administered antibiotic treatment.
The next day, Mr Clarkson went to examine the sheep. He noted that he checked on Lisa’s unwell animal and could immediately see that its condition had not improved overnight.
He stated that the infected udder had grown so swollen it resembled something rather unpleasant, and he chose not to elaborate further before mealtimes.
A veterinary surgeon was summoned and promptly determined that the infection had turned gangrenous, requiring the animal to be put down.
The procedure was carried out, and Mr Clarkson then spent the subsequent hour comforting Lisa, who was completely devastated. She has a deep affection for her Valais blacknose flock.
The upcoming season will show the farmer welcoming EasyCare sheep to the property.
Mr Clarkson noted that during the initial season, he remained constantly present with the lambing ewes, anxious about potential complications such as difficult births. EasyCare sheep require no such intervention.
Kaleb expressed strong displeasure upon their acquisition and repeatedly insisted the decision was incorrect.
These animals prove challenging to gather and possess considerable strength. However, Mr Clarkson recently observed that Kaleb had quietly acquired 30 of them for his own use.
