A tall stone monument is set to become the focal point of an important civic area.

It will occupy the central position in the marketplace at the Park View scheme in Woodstock, which will shortly bear the name Wincott Square.

The stonework is being crafted by sculptors Alex Waddell and Freya Morris.

This initiative brings together the Master Carvers Association, Blenheim Estate, Blenheim Estate Homes, Pye Homes, ADAM Architecture, and West Oxfordshire District Council, and includes three manually carved reliefs produced by artists Alex Waddell and Freya Morris.

Blenheim Estate Homes explained that the concepts reflect three guiding principles that form part of Blenheim Estate’s heritage values – historical and natural significance, construction and neighbourhood, and acceptance and unity.

A fourth inscription panel will finalise the monument’s appearance.

ADAM Architecture holds the role of principal designer and planning consultant for the Park View scheme.

The stone for the monument has been supplied by Somerton business Medusa Stonemasonry Limited, while the three carved reliefs and the inscription panel are contributions from Portland Stone Firms Ltd and fashioned from Portland limestone.
