Broughton Grange Garden in Banbury offers just such an experience, and if you have not yet explored this attraction or had it on your to-do list for some time, the summer months provide an ideal opportunity to pay a visit.
The site, situated approximately 50 minutes by car from Oxford, has earned praise from holidaymakers on Tripadvisor, who have called it remarkable and a wonderful place for enjoyable wanders along winding pathways.
Broughton Grange encompasses an impressive 25 acres of cultivated gardens and open woodland set within the attractive Oxfordshire countryside, according to information published by the National Garden Scheme. The expansive terraced walled garden was designed by Tom Stuart-Smith and completed in 2001.
The scheme’s description notes that careful planning has successfully integrated the grounds into the surrounding rural landscape. Early-season bulb displays give way to particularly striking herbaceous planting throughout the summer months. Both structured and naturalistic sections are featured throughout, making this a distinctive destination, with a recently established arboretum and various projects still under development.
