Rick Stein has shared a touching message following reactions from viewers during his MasterChef appearance.

The television cook, who comes from Churchill in the Cotswolds area close to Chipping Norton, appeared in a recent episode of MasterChef Australia to launch Around the World Week.

His background growing up in the countryside of the Cotswolds, combined with his longstanding reputation for traditional, produce-focused cuisine, has made him a well-known figure among food enthusiasts.

At 79 years old, Stein has appeared in countless television programmes and explored destinations worldwide, particularly in his BBC Long Weekend series covering European destinations and his culinary journeys through India.

The Australian broadcast proved popular with local audiences, with one admirer writing online that viewers appreciated seeing him on MasterChef, noting the positivity and warmth he brought to the show. A second commentator stated they followed all of his work and were longtime supporters.

Taking to Instagram to express his gratitude, Stein posted a message thanking viewers for their kind words regarding his Sunday appearance on the programme. He mentioned how much he had enjoyed taking part and noted how engaging all the competing cooks had been. He also offered special appreciation to judges Poe, Andy, Sophia and Jean-Christophe along with the entire crew, describing the day as truly memorable.

Contestant Casper Kenworthy commented online to Stein, thanking him for visiting and generously sharing his knowledge. The experience was described as unforgettable and something he would remember for a long time.

Another competitor, Hannah Johnson, said having Stein in the kitchen had been a privilege and that they had thoroughly enjoyed cooking for him.
