The first Wantage and Abingdon Performing Arts Festival was held at King Alfred’s Academy on April 22, displaying creative talents from across the Cambrian Learning Trust group.

Audience members enjoyed eight performances from seven different schools, featuring instrumental pieces, solo musicians, singers, dancers, and a choir.

Each act showcased enjoyment, bravery, and accomplishment displayed by the participants, with spectators offering praise and encouragement throughout the afternoon.

Paul Chadwick, Trust Enrichment Lead, stated that the Performing Arts Festival is one of the most important dates in the yearly calendar. He noted that bringing this event to Wantage and Abingdon for the first time as part of Cambrian had been delightful. The occasion exceeded expectations and highlighted the extraordinary artistic talent within their schools, with emerging performers taking their first steps on stage.

Joe Moore, a main organiser of the event, said the team was truly grateful to everyone who came to this inaugural Performing Arts Festival. The commitment, expertise, variety, and quality on display was outstanding.

Richard Evans, CEO of Cambrian Learning Trust, stated that occasions like their Performing Arts Festival truly embody the values of Cambrian Learning Trust. The organisation remains committed to giving every young person the opportunity to discover and develop their talents, build confidence, and feel a strong sense of belonging.

The participating schools were King Alfred’s Academy, Charlton Primary School, Millbrook Primary School, St James CE Primary School, Thameside Primary School, Wantage CE Primary School, and The Elms Primary School.
