Pursuit unfolds as officers chase suspect on Oxfordshire golf course

Published on

An uninsured motorist fled from Thames Valley Police officers by driving onto a golf course in Oxfordshire.

The grey-coloured car was flagged for a stop near Wheatley on Wednesday, April 29, but rather than pulling over, the driver made for a nearby golf course in a bid to evade capture.

Following examination, officers established the vehicle was being driven without insurance coverage.

A rural crime unit member said the car was stopped near Wheatley after appearing uninsured on checks. The driver tried to dodge officers by entering a golf course. After speaking with the driver, officers verified the vehicle had no insurance. A successful outcome for the officers – the car has been removed from the road.

In a separate incident, officers from the same unit also halted a car in Abingdon on the same date because the driver had neither a driving licence nor insurance.

This was the second occasion within two months that the driver had been caught committing these violations. The case has now been passed to the courts and the vehicle seized.

A rural crime unit representative noted the vehicle was stopped in Abingdon yesterday. The driver had no licence or insurance. This was the second time in two months the driver had been stopped and dealt with for these same offences. The driver has been reported to court and his vehicle seized.
