A burst water main has led to a road being shut down in an Oxfordshire town.

Shakespeare Drive in Bicester is expected to remain closed for roughly a week while Thames Water repairs a cracked pipe, according to a local ward member.

Councillor Donna Ford informed residents via social media that a highway closure is essential for Thames Water to fix a serious burst water main. She explained that the suggested diversion route is expected soon and will be examined quickly in line with normal procedures once received.

The closure began this morning on April 30 and has been listed on the causeway.one.network traffic information service.

The section impacted lies close to Dryden Avenue and Browning Drive, near King’s Meadow Primary School, with the road scheduled to reopen on May 7.
