As petrol costs climb because of tensions in the Middle East, an examination has been conducted to determine where drivers can find the lowest fuel prices throughout Oxfordshire.

The most budget-friendly option for petrol in the county is located at the Gulf filling station on Buckingham Road in Bicester, where regular unleaded is available at 151.1p per litre and diesel at 183.9p.

The Tesco superstore on Lakeview Drive in Bicester provides unleaded fuel at 153.9p, premium unleaded at 163.9p, and diesel at 181.9p per litre.

Oxford residents can find fuel at Sainsbury’s in Heyford Hill, which currently sells unleaded at 155.9p, super unleaded at 167.9p, and diesel at 189.9p per litre.

Across the country, fuel costs remain substantially elevated, with petrol standing 24p higher per litre and diesel 47p higher per litre compared to pricing prior to the conflict.

BP locations throughout the county represent the priciest options for motorists.

The BP North East Oxford station on Cherwell Drive charges 159.9p for standard petrol, 175.9p for premium fuel, and 189.9p for diesel.

The BP North and West Oxford location along the A40 offers standard petrol at 159.9p, premium petrol at 181.9p, and diesel at 188.9p per litre.

Although fuel costs have started to decline, the nationwide average remains at 157p for unleaded and 189.8p for diesel.

Data from the RAC Foundation reveals that motorists have spent an extra £500 million on petrol since the Middle East conflict commenced, while diesel consumers have faced additional expenses totalling £1.5 billion.
